Koivu is a small family business that specialises in home cooked, Nordic-inspired food. We believe that food can take you back to a special place and time. Our recipes are inspired by our travels, family and the places we have been lucky enough to eat in.
We strive to provide a unique and delicious experience with every meal. Our vegetarian and pescatarian dishes are full of flavour and made with love, so you can enjoy a freshly cooked meal in the comfort of your own home. Meet The Team
Our Story
Koivu is a home cooked food delivery service founded by a husband and wife team, Terry and Rachel. Rachel is a true Loiner, whilst Terry hit the UK shores from Finland almost 30 years ago. We have both worked in social care for many years and decided to start a new part-time adventure.
Our goal is to provide delicious, home cooked Nordic inspired food to the people of Leeds, as there are very few eateries in the area that serve this type of cuisine. We combine the familiar with some more unusual ingredients to bring a taste of the North.
Why Koivu? (pronounced COY-vuh)
Our company is named after the Finnish word Koivu, which means birch tree. We are passionate about connecting people to the bounty of nature, and the fresh ingredients used in our meals are sourced from local suppliers where possible. Koivu also happens to be part of our surname! We are proud to carry the Koivunen family name with this business.
Food Hygiene
We take food hygiene and safety seriously. As part of making sure our customers have the best experience we are registered with Leeds City Council as a food business. Both Rachel and Terry hold current Level 2 Food Safety certificates.
